El Perro y El Gato

Picture
An animated HBO show for preschoolers, El Perro y El Gato  follows two good friends, an energetic dog and a laid-back cat, through their daily lives as they experience things like getting dressed, going to school, playing at the beach, and visiting a farm. While El Perro (the dog) is excited and enthusiastic about absolutely everything, the only thing that gets El Gato (the cat) moving is the promise of food, but somehow the two friends get along just fine. The characters repeat each phrase in English and Spanish, and key vocabulary words appear onscreen in both languages. The episodes, each roughly four minutes long, cover five related concepts, and the brightly colored characters, simple animation, and pacing are all designed for children.

Salsa is Georgia Public Broadcasting's award-winning Spanish language series for young learners in kindergarten through the third grade. Puppets in familiar stories, digital graphics and animation teach the language.  It is a wonderful resource that students enjoy.  Click on the links below for a sample episode and website to play interactive games.

Hearing Bilingual

After browsing various Spanish blogs, I found this article on how babies sort out language.  It's an interesting read and helpful for parents like myself who are raising their children bilingual.
